Keep your tires inflated at correct pressure. Under-inflation
causes tires to wear and wastes fuel.
Avoid lengthy warm up idling. In winter, this may
take a little longer. However once the engine is running smoothly,
begin driving.
Accelerate slowly and smoothly. Avoid jack-rabbit
starts and unnecessary sudden acceleration or braking. Get into
high gear as soon as possible.
Avoid long and unnecessary engine idling. If you
have a long wait and you are not into traffic, it is better to turn
off the engine and start again later.
Avoid engine stress or overrevving. Do not rest
your foot on the accelerator pedal, for short period stoppages,
for example at a signal.
Use appropriate gears according to your speed as
indicated below.
Do not rest your foot on the clutch or brake pedal.
This causes needless wear, over heating and poor fuel economy.
Maintain a moderate speed on highways. The faster
you drive the greater the fuel consumption. By reducing your speed,
you will cut down on fuel consumption.
Ensure proper wheel alignment. Avoid hitting the
curb and slow down on rough roads. Improper alignment not only causes
faster tire wear but also puts an extra load on the engine, which
in turn wastes fuel.
Avoid unnecessary stopping and braking. Maintain
a steady pace. Keep a proper distance from other vehicles to avoid
sudden braking. This will also reduce your brakes from wearing.
Quantity and quality of fuel. Try to keep a track
on the quantity and quality of fuel.
Keep the bottom of your vehicle free from mud,
etc. This not only lessens weight but also helps prevent corrosion.
A/C usage increases fuel consumption. Operate the
lever on recirculate position to optimize cooling.
Two A/C settings are available in Cuore: "Mild"
(Economy) & "Full" Mode. Choose according to your
level of comfort desired. It is recommended that "Mild"
mode be used in the morning & night time.
Always use Genuine Parts including A/C. Non-Genuine
Parts effect fuel-consumption and can be dangerous.
Keep your vehicle tuned-up and in top shape. A
dirty air cleaner, carburetor out of adjustment, dirty plugs, dirty
oil and grease, brakes unadjusted etc. all lower engine performance
and contribute to poor fuel economy. For longer life of all parts
and lower operating costs maintain your vehicle on schedule. (Please
insist on genuine parts during (pre-journey) maintenance service).
TRAVELLING INTER- CITY, ON HIGHWAYS &/OR ON
THE MOTORWAY
1. Plan your journey. Equip yourself with road
maps. Ensure that you are carrying your vehicle documents, owners
manual & warranty booklet.
2.Car Condition. Vehicle should be in top road worthy condition
as high speed driving/emergency braking may be involved.
3. Your safety depends on:
*Your concentration during driving / maintaining controllable speeds.
*How safely you drive & adhere to traffic rules.
*The level of road worthiness of your vehicle.
* Wear seat belts. Always.
4.Amongst other items, pay special attention to
the condition of the following.
*Tyres
*Cooling system
*Engine Tune-up
*Brakes
*Engine-oil
*Windscreen
*Wheel balancing
*Headlights
*Seat and mirror adjustment
How to Measure Fuel Consumption
1. Fill the petrol in the fuel tank until gas vapours
can be seen in the fuel inlet pipe.
2. Once the gas vapours can be seen in the fuel inlet pipe wait
for about 20~30 seconds and if possible wait for more than a minute
for more accurate calculation.
3. Do not shake the vehicle's body.
4. As soon as the gas vapours sinks add more petrol till the gas
surface is visible once again.
5. Initialize the trip meter to zero at the petrol pump.
6. Drive the vehicle till the fuel guage needle reaches the 'E'
Position. Ensure that no petrol has been added in between.
7. Repeat steps 1~4 again.
8. Read the petrol quantity from the pump.
9. Read the mileage from the trip meter.10. Calculate the fuel consumption.
(Trip meter mileage - Petrol quantity)
11. After calculating the fuel consumption, once again initialize
the trip meter to zero
12. Repeat the above procedure at least 5~6 times.
13. Calculate the average fuel consumption.
